The Tradition

The giving of leis is a time honored tradition of love, friendship, celebration, honor and greeting, first introduced to the ancient Hawaiian’s by Polynesian voyagers sailing from Tahiti.  In ancient times, wearing a lei meant wealth, loyalty and rank.

Today, its meaning signifies a welcome celebration of affection between the giver and the recipient.  Over the last two decades, the lei tradition has become a cornerstone of the graduation ceremony on mainland U.S.A.

Much like its ancient meaning, today’s graduation lei signifies wealth of knowledge, loyalty to ones academic studies and rank as graduate.

Although leis can be worn by anyone, at anytime, never forget these unspoken rules:   never refuse a lei and never remove a lei in front of those who gave it.

We at Kahuna Flowers invite you to come be part of the tradition.
Be Happy.  Aloha!
